When Kimalea is born into a family with an absentee father and a mother deeply wounded by the terrors of her own childhood, Kimalea is left searching for her own significance. Though, perseverance marks Kimalea’s steps as she grows up, the sense of shame she feels as a child follows her in every season of life. Kimalea’s story of redemption is woven into the candid teachable moments of her life as she leans in to hear and obey God’s voice. Marriage, divorce, loss, and significance find their identities in God, as Kimalea shares lessons learned, and epic battles won.
Writing a book is hard. While meditating on the lessons of the past, I learned that it was the little steps along the way that trained me for the big ones. When the big ones became impossible… well, God was in charge of those. Red Sea Crossings' true message came into focus for me when I realized the chunks of story I was writing were not really chunks at all, but slices - memorial stones that continue to steady my feet as I walk through deep waters. It is on those stones that I walk today trusting God to protect me from the enemy of my soul, whose aim is to steal kill and destroy. Red Sea Crossings reflect the story of my life thus far and will not end when I do. I imagine that though I will pass through the deepest waters of death one day, I grow more confident with every step that I shall pass through on dry ground.
Books are funny. They change their minds when you are writing them.
