Are We There Yet?
Part 3
Musings from Psalm 90:12-15
Lengthy trials reveal what we are made of, and more importantly, they help us discover who we are when no one is watching. The prophet Moses found himself at ground zero of a forty-year trial that tested his patience with the people God called him to serve. Moses knew going in that God’s children were a rebellious lot. I suspect Moses himself knew a bit about being hardheaded from his forty years in Egypt. Although Moses could not change the Hebrews’ stubborn hearts, he encouraged them to consider the brevity of their lives.
Moses intercedes for his people in Psalm 90:12-15, asking the Father for compassion and mercy on the children of men so they might find joy and purpose in their journey. Moses was desperate for their lives to count, and for his life as their leader to count for eternity. Moses cries out to God to fill them with purpose and reveal himself so they might live victoriously in the final act of their lives.
“Give us joy, Lord! Show us your glory again so our children will learn from our mistakes and know your greatness! Let your beauty shine on us again so we can bring glory to your name. Bring revival to your people Lord and establish the work of our hands.
Have you ever been through a trial you thought would never end? I expect you have at one time or another. How did it go? What did you learn from the process?
